Description
Female employees pack avocados in wooden crates at the packing plant of Calavo Growers of California. The fruit is carefully bedded in excelsior to prevent bruising in transit. The crates that are piled on the floor to the left of the women read, "It must be marked CALAVO to be a Calavo". The plant is located in the central manufacturing district at 4803 Everett Street. Photo dated: January 25, 1929.
