Description
Photographic portrait of a family at their home on the southwest corner of Wilcox Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, ca.1896. A man in a button-down shirt and a gardener's hat stands to the right on his family's lawn while three women sit and stand to the left of him. The oldest is a stout woman who sits in a chair, wearing a dark geometrically-patterned dress. Two younger women are arranged to either side of her, the youngest, who looks roughly twenty, sits to the right of her, while a more middle-aged woman stands to the left behind an agave plant. The corner of their clapboard-sided house is just partially visible to the extreme left. An orchard is visible in the background.
