Photograph caption dated September 28, 1959 reads "Frank Gifford of New York Giants (16), former stellar USC gridder, returns home to lead Giants to a 23-21 win over Los Angeles Rams Saturday night at Coliseum before 71,000 fans in NFL opener. Closing in on Gifford are Rams Tom Franchhauser [sic] (81), Jack Morris (40) and Gene Brito (80)."
