Photograph caption dated April 1, 1955 reads "John McGinnis, left, Los Angeles City School official, examines exterior of new Vanalden Elementary School in Reseda with Walter G. Benedict and Robert G. Johnson, architects. School will be used as prototype for future elementary schools. It contains such innovations as square classrooms, built-in wardrobes and outside play and work areas adjacent to classrooms."
