Description
Image of a father figure, presumably American actor Frederic Bryton, standing and holding a female infant in his arms, with a vignette of a half-length portrait of the little girl, with the caption "Little Leonie" above, inset at top left with a small flower detail and palm fronds visible in left border of image; with text in top and bottom margins advertising performances beginning on August 23, [1886], at the Park Theatre in Brooklyn, New York; the poster advertises the comedic drama "Forgiven" written by Clay M. Greene.
Probable date based month and day in item text, general show history, and printer history; Henry Thomas and William Sterling operated as partners in 1886 (Last, The Color Explosion, page 232). "H.A. Thomas & Sterling Art Lithographers 7 E 19th St. N.Y."--text, bottom left margin. "'My Baby, Sweeter'n Barrels O'Honey and Softer'n Mornin' Dew'"--text, caption, bottom centered.
