Photograph caption dated October 16, 1958 reads "Lt. Cmdr. Robert Elshire, of North Hollywood, pauses beside his Lockheed-built Sea Star jet fighter before winging skyward on training mission. He is member of Naval Air reserve Jet Fighter Squadron 782 based at Los Alamitos Naval Air Station near Long Beach. Unit recently completed two weeks' training in Nevada."
