Title supplied by cataloger. This Chevrolet assembly plant opened in 1947 and produced the Chevrolet Corvair, Chevrolet Nova, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet full-size models and the Pontiac Firebird. The plant was closed in 1992 after the production of Camaro and Firebird vehicles was moved to Sainte-The´re`se Assembly in Quebec. In 1998, the facility was razed and replaced with a large retail and industrial complex, known as The Plant. GM continues to operate a car-testing facility nearby. Photograph dated February 23, 1948 shows A. T. Clausen, resident manager of the Fisher Body plant, welcoming members of the press during the press preview of the newly built assembly plant for Chevrolet automobiles located at 8000 Van Nuys Boulevard. The preview was held on February 17, 1948.
