Description
Water pouring into the Mono Crater tunnel at as much as 9200 gallons a minute. This was one of the obstacles overcome in bringing to completion the 11-mile bore that will increase the Los Angeles Aqueduct supply by 45 percent. Reports from the Water Bureau construction camp 350 miles north of the city indicate that the tunnel will now be "holed through" after more than four years' work.
