4 photographs of chute in sidewalk, Southern California, 1940. "Operator: Joe For: General Insurance Co[mpany] At: In front of Famous Dep[artmen]t Store, So[uth] Main St[reet] Job: Several shots of delivery shute [sic] in sidewalk at north end of store. shoot from street in approx. position a truck would be if it were unloading into shute [sic]. 1 shot with the front doors open (show the back doors closed), 1 shot with all doors closed. (if someone there will close them for you.) File #490784. Story is that as a box was sliding down the shute [sic] it hit the closed doors and set up a vibration which upset the claiment [sic] as she was walking on the back doors.
