Description
Photograph of a view of the groundbreaking ceremony for the Jewish Orphans Home in Huntington Park, ca.1912. A group of twenty men is gathered around a twenty-first man who is moving a shovelful of dirt. All of the men are wearing suits and hats, and many of them are wearing long trench coats. The area where the man is digging is bordered by wooden beams, and the group of men is surrounded by a string that divides the plot of land. The land itself is covered in weeds and twigs. There are trees and a large building, possibly a barn, in the background at left.
