Description
Bust-length portrait.
1990-1664.
Born in Pennsylvania in 1829, came overland to California in 1849. Settled in Sacramento in 1850, purchasing land for Rosebud ranch near Richland on Sacramento River. Married Elizabeth S. Hite in 1854. Elected to Assembly in 1870, and the Senate in 1879. Served as President pro tem of Senate. Served on State Board of Equalization in 1883. Served as director of People's Savings Bank. Died in 1905.
