Photograph article dated August 9, 1960 partially reads, "When the population floodgates were thrown open in Southern California following World War II, much of the area's colorful heritage of the old Spanish mission days was buried under the avalanche of urbanization. But as with any fine vintage product, this magnificent heritage of Old California has been nurtured and cultivated by certain individuals and communities so that new generations will always have the opportunity of savoring its delights and color. Typical of this is the annual 'Old Spanish Days Fiesta' scheduled to open tomorrow in Santa Barbara and continue through Sunday." Photograph caption reads, "Historical marker - El Presidente George V. Castagnola and Senora Rena Castagnola, view historical marker at site of Royal Spanish Presidio of Santa Barbara which was established in 1872. This old Spanish heritage will be celebrated during 35th annual Santa Barbara Fiesta which opens tomorrow."
