Photograph was edited for publication purposes. The Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, located at 3939 S. Figueroa Street, was officially opened on July 4, 1959 by then Vice President Richard M. Nixon and was designed by Welton Becket; general contractor was L.E. Dixon Company. The last event at the arena was a Bruce Springsteen concert. The arena was closed on March 19, 2016 and demolished to make room for a new soccer stadium. Photograph caption dated April 8, 1964 reads "Gordon Haworth (7) and Leo LaBine (8) of the Los Angeles Blades will get the chance tonight to renew old 'friendships' with their neighbors from the north when the Blades and the San Francisco Seals meet for their first championship playoff game. Ed Panagabko (8), Al Nicholson (11) and Tom Thurlby (4) of the Seals are shown."
