Image of a group of people with an umbrella on the beach in Santa Monica, California. The Arcadia Hotel and the remains of the Los Angeles and Independence Wharf are seen in the distance.

Ella Swartwout, Huguenot, N.Y. Nannie Wisner Middletown, N.Y., Mima Van Etten Evans, Los Angeles, Calif."--text handwritten on verso. Title and date transcribed from note on verso. This image is reproduced in Ernest Marquez's publication: Santa Monica Beach: a collector's pictorial history (Angel City Press, 2004), page 105. Probably photographer supplied by cataloger based on photographer's history and marriage to Jemima (Mima) Van Etten.
