After just three decades of use, Whittier Downs Shopping Center was razed due to declining popularity. Aerial view of the Whittier Downs Shopping Center at Washington Boulevard (lower right) and Norwalk Boulevard (center) in Santa Fe Springs. Some of the retailers include: J. C. Penney, Thrifty Drug Co., F.W. Woolworth Co., and a Food Giant supermarket. On the right is a King Cole Market, designed by A. Quincy Jones, in a smaller shopping center.
