Description
A grocery store in a building on a street corner with sign that says "Joe Gioia. Sonoma dry and sweet wines. By the gallon or bottle." There are also advertising signs for "Maier and Zobelein" beer, wines and groceries, and coal. Street signs for "Alpine Street" and "Buena Vista Street" can be seen on the corner roof edges.
Title devised by cataloger. Date range approximated by cataloger based on the year that film negatives came into use and the latest known dates indicated for other Hazard images in the Huntington's collection. The Joe Gioia grocery store and saloon was at 801 Buena Vista Street, at the corner of Alpine Street.
