Description
Shown on July 14, 1936, is a meeting of the Sacramento Advertising Club. The group - known also as the "Ad Club" - was started in 1907 by 15 local advertisers as a way for Sacramento firms to exchange ideas and promote Sacramento through its adoption of the nickname "Camellia City," and the formation of the 100,000 Club which sought to drive the city's population to 100,000. The group was founded, primarily through the efforts of Sacramento Union's advertising manager Florence J. O'Brien. Other original members included Breuner's, C.P. Nathan Company, Hale's, the Sacramento Bee, and the Southern Pacific Railroad.
