Photograph caption dated June 5, 1961 reads, "Shriners off to Las Vegas - Three chartered buses carried 117 Valley Shrine Club members and their wives on the Shrine's annual three-day safari to Las Vegas this weekend. claiming seats in one of the buses are Jean Rutledge, Pomona, and Jack Palmieri, 4505 Kester Ave., Sherman Oaks, president of the San Fernando Valley Shriners. The group headquartered at Thunderbird Hotel. Starting point for the safari was Kester street and Ventura boulevard, Sherman Oaks."
