Photograph was edited for publication purposes George Lloyd Murphy was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1902. He was an American actor, singer, dancer and politician. He was president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1944-1946, and was also a vice-president at Desilu Studios and at the Technicolor Corporation. Murphy served as a United States Senator from 1965-1971. He died in 1992. Photograph caption dated February 9, 1956 reads "George Murphy, right, accepts an invitation from Mrs. C. W. Manfull to be master of ceremonies for San Fernando Lincoln Day dinner Monday night at Porter Hotel. Leo Flynn, left, looks on. John Morley, lecturer and author, will be principal speaker."
