V2p113a In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. II, page 113 top. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Three-quarter length portrait of Mayor James P. Rolph seated in a chair, facing left and reading an 1869 volume of the Chronicle. Text written to right of photo: "Mayor Rolph Reading Chronicle of 1862 Containing his Birth Notice 1927." Rolph was born in 1869, the same year that the paper changed its name to the "San Francisco Chronicle" as seen on the ones that Rolph is reading.
