Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Photograph caption dated March 3, 1954 reads, "Steve and Christine Anderson examine this 40-pound metate, Indian grain grinding vessel uncovered during sewer excavation at the Van Nuys home of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Anderson, 4648 Atoll Ave. Said to be hundreds of years old, metate was found at depth of four feet. Children are launching search for other relics."
