Its doctrine is a mild form of Calvanism, with belief in a general atonement and admission of feet-washing as religious ordinance. Photograph shows a close-up of the Metropolitan Baptist Church of Christ cornerstone, located on the corner of 4200 Hooper Avenue and E. 42nd Street. The cornerstone reads: "Metropolitan Baptist Church - Organized June 1922 - By Rev. M. C. Carter - Rebuilt 1946 - Trustees: Rosia Donaldson; David H. Williams; Charles Gilliard; Willie Williams, Chmn.; Julius C. Hall, Sect. - Deacons: Curtis L. Gosby, Chmn.; Fred Risby, Sect.; Elnora Anderson, Clk.; Rev. J.E. Pius, Pastor".
