“Photographs by Mr. Lawrie. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrie and natives.” Group portrait of James Hay Lawrie, his wife, Margaret, and locals wearing cloth garments. They pose to the side of a thatched building. Lawrie was a Presbyterian missionary from Edinburgh and based on Aneityum [Anatom], New Hebrides [Vanuatu], from 1879-1896. Later he was minister of several charges in New South Wales. They had four children. Margaret Lawrie died in 1922 and her husband in 1929.
