Description
There are loud sounds at Venice Pier today. But they are not the sounds of the merry-go-round or the roller coasters. They are the sounds of the hammers and the tractors. Venice Pier, the "Coney Island of California," is fast disappearing these days as workmen conclude the demolishing of the amusement area to make way for a beach development and super-highway program. This view is of Venice Pier today. Photo dated: February 4, 1948.
