Architectural rendering of the proposed $3,000,000 nine-story Health and Receiving Hospital in the Civic Center showing the front of the building with a family, including a woman pushing a baby carriage, strolling past. The architect is Samuel E. Lunden. The hospital was to front on the north side of East 1st St. and extend from Main to Los Angeles Sts. and accommodate 2,000 patients. Plans for the building were put on hold when only one bid was submitted, doubling the construction cost. Photo dated: Jul. 15, 1949.
