Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Rescue demonstrations took place at Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ferrell's home located in North Hollywood, CA. Photograph caption dated June 15, 1959 reads, "Some of 104 who witnessed demonstrations in pool safety watch Paul R. Young of National Safety Council show one method of rescueing [sic] a swimmer in distress. Here he reaches long pole to Lewis Pearlman, 17, 'victim' in the lessons on water safety. Young emphasized importance of using a pole, flotation device or other object--which should be kept handy--rather than trying a swimming rescue. Always have someone designated as 'lifeguard,' he said."; See images #00116010 through #00116014 for all photos in this series.
