Description
Built at the midpoint of the Mill Valley & Mt. Tamalpais Railway, the Double Bow Knot looped back and forth five times to gain elevation without forcing the grade to be steeper than five percent. Front of postcard is printed with the following text: "Double Bow Knot in Mt. Tamalpais R.R.-S.B. Bay and the Golden Gate in Background, Cal." Back of postcard is postmarked (paper damaged so date not visible) and includes correspondence to a Miss Dunstone of Dumbarton, Scotland. Back of postcard is printed with: "California Series. No. 22. Chas. McArthur, Publisher, 1020, Wood St. Oakland, Cal. Printed in Germany. Pre-1906
