Photograph caption dated March 24, 1962 reads, "Karen Plaisted of Woodland Hills, 9, has won 61 medals and trophies in Amateur Athletic Union-sponsored events and four others from the Woodland Hills Swim School where she trained, all since she was a beginner in swimming. An 'A' pupil at Serrania Ave. Elementary School, she recently entered six events and won six gold medals in SPAAAU competition at Huntington Park. With her is her coach, Vic Cook."
