An issue titled as: Engagement and marriage customs in a relocation center. The document describes engagement and marriage rules in a camp on the Northwest Coast of the United States. The document analyzes the way marriages were arranged and how families were organizing their children's marriages. The collection contains material used by Carey McWilliams in writing the book, Prejudice: Japanese Americans, symbol of racial intolerance (Little, Brown, 1944). It includes U.S. War Relocation Authority records, confidential reports, bibliographies, clippings and compilations of articles, legal papers, correspondence between McWilliams and Japanese American evacuees, relocation camp newspapers and other publications, two copies of his book, and five copies of the 1994 videocassette (40 min.), Something Strong Within.
