Article by Charles Handy on how team design in organizations can lead to creativity and making a difference for employees in the workplace. Handy begins the article describing how, as human beings, people should do their best to improve the world around them. He proceeds to discuss that, in particular, young people are searching for a grander purpose in their lives beyond mere survival - to be a part of something important as well as make a difference in the world. Handy then remarks how, in most of the successful British industries, they have one central thing in common, namely, working in teams on a series of projects, with high aspirations to make each project special and have it differ in some way from its predecessors or its competitors. He therefore concludes that in order for British industry to remain relevant, it has to strive for constant innovation in a team setting.
