Photograph article dated August 5, 1961 partially reads, "Happy Friedman is a 13-year-old boy who ought to know better than to play with dolls. Then again, Happy is a little retarded for a 13-year-old, and knows only three words. Besides, he's a parrot. 'Happy is all boy, but he has developed a doll complex,' said his owner, Mrs. Grace Friedman, 7128 Hayvenhurst Ave., Van Nuys. 'He insists on having dolls placed on the table next to his cage.' Mrs. Friedman lives at the one-acre site on Hayvenhurst avenue with her husband, Joe, a retired butcher. She obtained the Mexican double yellow-headed parrot (one head, lots of yellow feathers) when he was nine years old." Photograph caption reads, "Happy, 13, likes dolls, toy dogs, dancing, kissing - He's a male parrot with a doll complex."
