Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Original photograph has a stain at the top of the picture.
Photograph caption dated September 27, 1950 reads "'Sandy,' a Scotch Collie, is mothering three orphaned Dachshund puppies today in North Hollywood. Pups' real mother died giving birth to three other babies in litter who were born dead. 'Sandy' was borrowed from a North Hollywood veterinarian where she had been brought to be put to death after bearing litter herself. Pups are owned by Mr. and Mrs. Clyde O. Marshall, 12126 LaMaida St., North Hollywood."
