Description
Photograph of salt stacks drying, California, ca.1910. A single mound of salt dominates the frame in the extreme center foreground, while the other stacks extend across the marsh behind it. The ground looks almost completely dry. The foothills at the base of the mountains are visible in the background, along with what appears to be the buildings of the salt mine.
