Photograph was edited for publication purposes.
Photograph caption dated October 24, 1947 reads "How she covers herself as she said mate threw bowl of chili at her." Gill is seated, holding both hands up, palms out. Mrs. Gill testified in court during divorce trial that the incident occurred during an argument on the merits of American and foreign women. The judge commented, "What a terrible waste of good food," as he granted the decree.
