Photograph caption dated April 11, 1960 reads, "Learning to swim is fun - even the dry land technique of perfecting a stroke - Valley kids find each year in the big Learn-to-Swim drive held by the North Hollywood area "Y" jointly with the Valley Times. This event, staged from April 11 to 15 is for boys 8 to 12 and has been hailed as a great boon to youngsters. It offers a fine opportunity for youngsters to learn water safety and the rudiments of swimming. Here Counselor Vern Brown of North Hollywood Branch 'Y' is guiding an adept pupil, Mark Riebs, 12, through the dry land technique."
