Photograph of Edward L. Doheny at the site dedication ceremony for his discovery of oil, 1930. Doheny, wearing a straw hat, waving, and standing under a wooden scaffold or derrick, discovered oil in 1892 near Second Street and Glendale Boulevard (south side of Court Street, east of Patton, two and one-half blocks east of Glendale Boulevard). Another man stands at his side. A receiver, or microphone and camera stand on tripods at left.
