Photograph caption dated November 23, 1954 reads "Cheryl Gist, 7, Van Nuys victim of cerebral palsy, right, gets acquainted with French poodle, mascot of '18th Century French Fancy,' New Year's Eve dance at Devonshire Downs, while Mrs. Vernon L. Brubaker, of Van Nuys Women of Moose 1031, left, and Mrs. Hugh Thomas, chairman, look on. Proceeds of dance will go toward Handicapped Recreation Center."
