Description
Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Photograph article dated May 21, 1947 partially reads, "Hjelte, as general manager of the Los Angeles City Recreation and Park department, said that lighting is one of the critical needs necessary to bring Valley playgrounds up to a parity with modern facilities of the kind in other sections. But, he added, lighting is just one of several shortcomings of playgrounds out here. It is true that lighting is inadequate at practically all local playgrounds." Note: George Hjelte is at left, with an unidentified reporter at right.
