Speaking is Colonel Charles A. Thorpe, Director of Engineering, 1st Strategic Aerospace Division, Vandenberg Air Force Base. Seated from the left are Los Angeles Mayor Samuel W. Yorty, California Governor Edmund G. Brown, and John J. Graham, vice president and area general manager of ITT. Behind Colonel Thorpe, in white socks and wearing glasses, is Dr. Norman E. Friedmann, vice president, California operations of ITT.
