Description: “Our compound at Dodoma. Thorn scrub around, no green vegetation at all.” Landscape view showing tents surrounded by thorn scrub for protection and two men standing in the middle, Lt. Irvine is on the right and he was posted to Dodoma in July 1917. ❧ The image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in German East Africa and Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During this time he would meet Dr John W Arthur which in turn would lead to his missionary work at Chogoria in Kenya.
