Description
Pictured along the West Sacramento side of the Sacramento River in this circa 2000 postcard is the so-called ziggurat, once occupied by the Money Store, a nationwide moneylender. Constructed in 1997 and 1998 out of sandstone, the 60 million dollar, 11-story office tower was made to look like a Mayan temple. Viewed by some an architectural eyesore, the building was abandoned by the Money Store in 2000.
