"Barracks for Repatriates -- Wash hangs on a line between unheated wooden barracks, home for Japanese repatriates from the United States until they find a new home or relatives in Japan. More than 2,000 Japanese men, women and children were brought from the United States to Japan on Christmas Day aboard the former luxury liner Matsonia." -- caption on photograph
