Photograph caption dated January 1, 1957 reads, "Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker, left, famed World War I air ace and grand marshal of Rose Parade, goes over parade route with John Davidson, president of Tournament of Roses, just before parade begins. Air ace and wife rode in convertible decorated with 5,000 red roses. He was latest in long line of nation's leaders who have headed parade."
