Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Los Angeles County Courthouse and the Hall of Records at the corner of Broadway and Temple Street, ca.1926. The courthouse is at center and is a massive dark Gothic building. There is a tall rectangular clock tower in the middle of the symmetrical building, and smaller cylindrical towers jut out of the roof on the sides. A large archway serves as the main entrance. The ground in front of the courthouse is occupied by an oval driveway surrounding a tall statue. The hall of records is at right and is even taller than the courthouse. It is very light and is built in the Victorian style. A large pole is sticking out of the roof in the middle of the building. The streets below the government buildings are lined with early-model automobiles, and a streetcar is visible at right.
