Description
Portrait of Moses James Church, who is considered the father of irrigation in the San Joaquin Valley. He came to Fresno in the 1860s and it was there that he devised the first irrigation system. He also built the first flour mill in Fresno; raised grain, sheep and cattle; and, was a prominent member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He built the first such church in Fresno.
