Description
Photograph of the Baptist Church in Ventura, later the Religious Science Church, 1900. A tall lightly-colored building is visible at center with a wide staircase leading to double-doors. Above the doors reads, "Ventura County Church of Religious Science". The forward-facing wall that the doors are embeded in extends above the building and has the appearance at top of an ascending staircase from the left up towards center, and a descending staircase from center to the right. A similar shape is visible on a wall to the right. A ladder leans against the building to the right of the staircase, while a pickup truck is parked at right. A window is visible to the left, while an automobile is visible at left parked on the street. A utility pole is visible to the right of the car, while a man is visible from behind in front of the staircase hosing the sidewalk down with water. A small building, two palm trees, and utility poles are visible in the right background.
