Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Mission Santa Clara from the road, ca.1900. The chapel of the mission is pictured to the right of center, its clapboard-sided bell tower attached to its left side. Farther left, a dark one-story adobe building appears to be extending from the chapel, behind a picket fence. A dirt road cuts across the frame, a cross on the side opposite oof the chapel. The silhouettes of pedestrians can be seen near the gate that leads into the chapel's main doors.
Picture file card attributes the following to Charles B. Terrill: "I copied the Daguerotype, probably made by Ford previous to 1858. This daguerotype is at Santa Clara".
