Abhayagiri Slab Inscription of King Mihindu IV. The inscription begins with a eulogy of King Mihindu IV. There is a description of the Abhagiri Vihara and the chief incumbents residing there. Details are also given of the buildings constructed around Abhayagiri Vihara and of the various repair works undertaken at places such as Isurumuni Vihara, Ruvanveli Seya, Mirisavetiya, Sihigiri Maha Seya, the Relic House, Mahapali Alms Hall, the mehenavara and the hospital. The inscription mentions that a copy of the Dhammacakka Pavattana Sutta was taken throughout the city on the back of the royal elephant with great veneration and offerings made as well. --Department of Archaeology, Ministry of National Heritage
