Photograph caption dated May 6, 1963 reads "Beauties represent Zody's - These three Valley girls will represent separate Zody's Department Stores in the Miss San Fernando Valley Pageant May 26 at the Sportsmen's Lodge, Studio City. The three queen hopefuls have previously won individual community titles to be eligible for the Valley pageant. From left are Linda Carpenter - Miss Burbank - representing Zody's Burbank store; Louise Jean - Miss Northridge - representing Zody's of Northridge, and Francine Herack - Miss Thousand Oaks - representing Zody's Canoga Park stores. The winner of the Miss San Fernando title will move into the Miss California finals, with the title of Miss Universe being the final step for some lucky girl."
