Caryl Haskins addressing guests at the dedication of the 60-inch telescope, Palomar Observatory. Haskins is standing behind a podium inside the Oscar G. Mayer memorial building that houses the telescope. A small portion of the telescope is seen in the upper right-hand corner of the photograph. The unidentified guests are seated in chairs, in front of Haskins. The ladder leading to the observatory's balcony is seen in the background, to Haskins' left.
